flashback friday

been missing my dog terribly since i got here, so this flashback friday post is all about my lovable hairy mutt...INDIANA JONES :)

getting a dog was a total accident for me. really. i was bored one afternoon, and they were practically giving him away. he was the runt of the litter, and one look at that sweet face and i was in love.

cutest damn puppy alive

i made a strict rule of never letting the dog on the bed. but honestly, who the hell could say no to this face? Indy: let me on this bed bitch or i'll pee on the carpet. you know i will lol
i brought him with me pretty much everywhere i went, because well, puppies are cute, and i couldnt bear to leave him at home.
first time at tanner dog park
first time swimming
once he was old enough, indy got to come with me in the field. he got to grow up playing in ditches, chasing butterflies and bunnies, rolling in shit, climbing up hills, running in pastures, and visiting some of utahs most bad ass archaeological sites
 indy @ nine mine canyon

helping andy with project discovery (ps. working with an andy and having an indy was a tongue twister/brain fuck of death. they both got called the wrong names all summer)
 hiking with mom

 hiking makes dogs tired
staying at the nutter ranch in nine mile canyon. it rained the whole time, and indy really wanted to go out and play...
we tried to survey and got hit by a storm and had to hide under a rock during the down-pour
...he was cold and wet so i tried to make him a dog bed out of a cardboard box and some bubble wrap. mightve been ghetto as shit, but he loved it and looked damn cute in it :)
this dog LOVES camping!...and the girl in the stripey headband...and licking the hot-dog skewers when nobody was looking.
 first time meeting a bobcat
we were heading out for a long day of survey, so i loaded up his pack with lots of water. i strapped it on him, and turned around to put my pack on and when i looked back, he'd toppled over and couldnt get up lol. i almost peed my pants laughing. it was like watching a flipped over turtle lol
Indy: fuck off, i dont care, i dont even want to get up. i like laying like this....
Indy: k mom, its not funny anymore, please help me up
rick testing out the handle on the backpack. he proceeded to pick indy up and lug him around like a piece of luggage. indy just hung there like a dead cow, while the rest of us were in stiches lol.

 indy @ range creek

we were packing up the pathfinder, getting ready to go home when he came prancing over from the field and sat down, SUPER proud to show me this.
Indy: look mom, i rolled in shit!

so i did what any mom would do when their child is covered in shit....dragged him over to the ditch and cleaned him off. i think i shamed him in front of his little doggie friends, but there was no way in hell i was driving with a horse-shit covered dog in a car for four hours. lol sorry indy

indy @ escalante laying on an anasazi village site

this site had ZERO shade. poor little guy looked all over for some shade, and hit the jackpot when he found the shade from our screens. he passed out and woke up covered in backdirt lol

investigating our 1x1 unit....

indy @ utahs west desert

you dont see enough photos of dogs by rock art. so here you go, a dog by some rock art.

this dog got to teach with me all summer long. several journalists came out to chronicle our work and interview the students, and i'll be damned if half the staff didnt get mentioned, and this little rascal made it into every article, sometimes with photos. indiana jones is FAMOUS!

he also gets spoiled rotten at home...

i wanted a dog house for the mutt, but i couldnt find one i liked. so i got some help from my dad and brother, and we built one. this is indy helping
