happy sunday :)
just got done checking the sats on this blog, cant believe how many of you are reading it. its super flattering, and ive decided to instigate my official blog disclaimer:
i take full credit for all the fabulous witty gems that get miraculously word vomited onto the page, and for any parts of the blog that are boring, inaccurate, or are just pure crap...its likely due to some rogue internet hacker and i am in no way to blame ;)
ive been on a music kick all day and been feeding my ears with all sorts of delicious sounds. its amazing how much music can compliment or affect your mood, and i didnt realize how quiet my house was and and much i needed some acoustic lovin. today ive been after songs that sound like summer and make me happy on the inside. if you feel like dishing up: colbie caillat - brighter than the sun, the generationals - when they fight, they fight, the dirty heads - lay me down, donavon frankenreiter - it dont matter, sweatshop union - stolen memories, eels - fresh feeling, and one republic - good life.
and if that didnt make you happy on the inside, this should
so ive been reading this book called "the law of attraction made simple" by jonathon manske. not one for self-help or advice books but i really dug it. ive been trying to make my life more positive and think in a more positive way, and the way that its described in this book is easy for us ratards to understand. it pretty much says that like attracts like: so negative attracts negative, and positive attracts positive. kinda cool to think that you could have power over your thoughts that way, and you can choose for good things to happen for you in your life.
the other morning the internet here at hellvue was shitting the bed and kept dropping my skype calls, it was SO frustrating. so here i am cursing the digital gods who reign over the internet, when i realized that my negative attitude might be making the situation worse. so i followed the books advice and told myself the internet would work (or i would rip it from the wall and smash the router with something heavy), and took a coffee and brekky break. sure as anything, when i came back i was in a better mood and the internet worked. not sure how, but it did. go figure. and then i got to see this handsome face :)
anyway, getting ahead of myself. work paid for me and the other supervisors to go to this management training on thursday and friday. im all about learning to become a good manager, but this was torture! in fact, given the choice, i mightve picked actual torture. at least then i wouldve had a better story. spent two days and fourteen hours of in a freezing cold room listening to ass numbingly dull material. gotta give points to our instructor though, she was a bit sassy and kept using the word "cheeky". im not entirely sure what it means, but i know that it makes me happy when i hear it.
we also got to build towers. the tower had to be made from note-cards and had to hold up a brick for 60 seconds. im still stumped on how this factors into management training, but i was stoked to be doing something else besides starting at the clock and willing it to move faster. this was our tower
lol our team failed. we used the most supplies, took the longest amount of time to finish, and had the jankiest design in the room. takeaway lesson: dont put two archaeologists, a mining supervisor, and a theatre director in charge of building ANYTHING! haha
the weather has been super nice, we have a bit of a love hate relationship. i love it in the mornings when its cool and kinda breezy, i loathe it during midday when i step outside and am instantly drenched in sweat, and then i love it again in the evenings when i can sit on my porch and see this
on friday after i was allowed to leave satans lair er,...i mean, the management training, all my coworkers went for drinks in downtown perth.
had a great time, our table was right on the edge of the cafe, with all the doors open so you could see everyone milling about outside. since noirin and i are poor and aussie beers are EXPENSIVE, we left everyone drinking and walked to the train station to go home. now, i have only been in the perth cbd a couple of times, but it is quite small. for you stalkers at home, its like 1/5th the size of our downtown. noirin goes, "is zis dowtown pert?" (sorry noirin, i really like trying to type how you sound with your irish accent lol) and i had to break it to her that yes, those tiny few blocks were pretty much the entire cbd. i could fit perth in my pocket with room to spare!
saturday day we decided that we had treated the perth cbd like a red-headed step child, so we went back and gave it another go
ended up having a blast. lots of fun shops to wander around in, crazy street performers, and people playing accordions and bagpipes (thank god they were at opposite ends of the street. can you imagine the horror of an accordion-bagpipe band? lol now i said that, im imagining it. and its quite funny). so at home there are all sorts of groups of people, preppies, skaters, mormons (noirin cant remember and always calls em normans lol) etc. so we were sitting at a cafe having lunch and i looked over and saw this bloke (yep, there it is. aussie vocabulary infection) wearing high-waisted red pants. and boy howdy was he strutting around. normally id classify him as a hipster and and be done with it, when it dawned on me (imagine cher in clueless when she realizes she loves josh) that there is no hipster group in perth (and likely the rest of australia for that matter). why you may ask? turns out...
they.are.ALL.hipsters!
yeah. totally blew my mind. and then i felt like buying red pants to fit in lol.
stopped by a bottle shop on the way home and picked up a sampler of australian beers since im too poor to go to the pub. they gave me a box to carry em home in. dont you wish you couldve seen me and noirin walking down the street with a box of beer on our shoulders? it was very reminiscent of the 80s boombox shoulder walk. anyhow this was our haul:
10 points if you spotted the duff beer on the left. and i tried cider for my first time. its like a bottle of champagne raped a glass of beer and cider is their offspring. it was pretty tasty and i take back anything smart-assy ive ever said about cider.
just took a peek out the window and it looks like its going to rain. gonna go for a run before that happens. hope ya'll are having as lazy and delicious of a sunday as i am :)

Hee hee you make me laugh!! I'm enjoying your blog! I like the language differences and the pictures. Wish I could hear Noirin's accent. I took your sugestion to read Garden Spells and loved it! So I read the Girl Who Chased the Moon too. I love the way Sarah Addison Allen describes the every day things. So unusual. I'm going to toss you a thriller, twisty, turner by Lisa Unger called Beautiful Lies. Miss you. Love you, Margie
